And now for something different: Fred and Ginger at the 1967 Oscars

18 Aug

Fun fact time: I am slightly obsessed with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. And I’d heard about their little dance at the 1967 Oscars when they co-presented, but I’d never seen it, because the clip was nowhere to be found. UNTIL NOW. Some lovely, lovely person has put it up on youtube. It’s not great quality, but it is wonderful:

Those crazy kids!

Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing stills

4 Aug

So there have been stills released from Joss Whedon’s version of Much Ado About Nothing! Finally! I know it isn’t a TV show, but this one picture is close enough to being TV related that it’s totally relevant:

Waaaaaaaah (from hollywoodreporter.com)

All my Fred and Wesley feels are coming back! Sniffle! At least this time they’ll get to live happily ever after…though knowing Joss he’ll edit Shakespeare to kill one of them off. Again. Sigh.

Anyway, here are the rest of the stills:

Nathan! Tom Lenk! (from thefilmstage.com)

Amy! Someone named Jillian Moregese who I’m sure is wonderful!

I can’t tell who this is!

This film is going to be very emotionally confusing for me, what with all the people from Buffy/Angel/Firefly/Dollhouse/many of those things/non-Joss shows (Castle!). But I’m excited! It’s premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival next month, and then hopefully it will be coming to a screen of any size near me!

Jonathan Groff performing Anything Goes at Miscast

20 Apr

So, since this is a video of Jonathan Groff performing Anything Goes, it is not actually about television. Gasp! However, it combines three of my favorite things–musical theater, tap dancing, and Jonathan Groff–so I’m sharing it anyway. Plus Jonathan has been on TV, so close enough. In any event, this is officially my new favorite thing.

Glorious, no?

Downton Abbey Trading Cards

These are the greatest. That is all.

The only thing I will be posting related to the Superbowl…

6 Feb

…because I didn’t really watch it. Bad American! But this, the casts of various NBC shows singing Brotherhood of Men, which aired before the game, is epic and must be shared:

“What’s happening? What are you doing? Are we in a Superbowl commercial? Is a Clydesdale gonna kick a beer at Betty White or something!?”

My only quibble is that some of those people were clearly not actually there at the end. But who cares! Nice one, NBC. Nice one.

The Greatest News Ever

22 Jan

So, apparently the CW has ordered a musical chairs reality show called Oh Sit! I repeat: a MUSICAL CHAIRS reality show. Called Oh sit! (The exclamation is theirs, possibly because they want to make everyone writing about it look like they’re super excited.) It’s basically going to be musical chairs with an obstacle course, plus a live band. It used to be called Extreme Musical Chairs, but I think we can all agree Oh Sit! gives it that little something extra that the previous title never could. I will of course be watching it the moment it airs.

Also, something I’ve been meaning to post about, which now qualifies as the second-greatest news ever, for very different reasons: Brian Stokes Mitchell is going to be one of Rachel’s dads on Glee!  And he’s going to sing! And my life will be complete! The episode airs February 14. Guess I’ll have to actually catch up now…

This is too fantastic/hilarious. I had to share.
