A Message to Cat Deeley

24 Aug

My dear Cat,

First, let me say, you are amazing. You are the best host ever. And I really and truly mean that. But Cat. My dear, darling Cat. Please, for the love of God, just start saying judges again. I BEG you. It was cute for like two seconds to have the audience say judges instead of you. And then the moment was gone. It was gone, Cat. And yet you didn’t let it go! I get it, you can’t say judges right. I don’t care. I have noticed that in the last couple of weeks you have stopped pausing as long after “Please welcome your…” and have said judges along with everyone else in a more noticeable way. You are moving in the right direction! Now move all the way over there and just say the sentence. No pausing. No nothing. Because Cat, the schtick is wearing thing. It’s past the point of being annoying. And I don’t want anything about you to be annoying! So stop it. Now.

With love and gratitude,

Stacey

And now for something different: Fred and Ginger at the 1967 Oscars

18 Aug

Fun fact time: I am slightly obsessed with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. And I’d heard about their little dance at the 1967 Oscars when they co-presented, but I’d never seen it, because the clip was nowhere to be found. UNTIL NOW. Some lovely, lovely person has put it up on youtube. It’s not great quality, but it is wonderful:

Those crazy kids!

Gossip Girl season 6 preview (with a side of Martha Jones)

17 Aug

So I was watching this promo for Gossip Girl:

And my main take away was, hold the phone, why is Martha Jones introducing this clip? So I did some googling, and you guys, how did I not know that Freema Agyeman is going to be in The Carrie Diaries? Kind of a downgrade from traveling around with the Doctor, but hey, good for her. Maybe I’ll actually check the show out now…maybe.

Anyway, as for Gossip Girl…well, I really don’t have much to say. If my love for it revived to a burning flame last season it is now a pile of ash. Of course there’s always the potential they could do something awesome to reignite it but I somehow doubt that very much. Sigh. At least Dan appears to have cut his hair! That deserves a hallelujah chorus at least.

Downton Abbey season/series 3 photos!

16 Aug

Ok, first of all, I promise that one day soon this blog will start being about things other than Downton Abbey again (…maybe). But, pictures, guys! So I got these off of this Downton Abbey calendar: http://www.calendarclub.co.uk/p-7122-downton-abbey-2013-wall-calendar.aspx. You can zoom in and look at all the lovely photos for yourself, but I screencapped them all for the more lazy among you. And I mean that in the most loving way possible. So, enjoy! (Light spoilers, of course).

Aw, Edith!

Matthew, you’re scaring me

Darlings!

I’m digging the tiara

Way to be on the calendar, ladies!

Anna: Secret Crawley Sister

I sense a showdown.

Focus, Edith!

And there you have it! All of the season/series (I can’t make up my mind if I want to be British or not) 3 photos from the calendar. My verdict on the 1920s gear: Approve of Edith’s hair, serious reservations about Sybil’s hair, wish I could pull off wearing Mary’s hat in the picture of her with Sybil and Anna.

Yet another Downton trailer!

13 Aug

There’s ANOTHER Downton trailer out, you guys. And this one is 100% Downton Abbey, no other shows involved! Yay!

Please hurry up September! (Um, PS, I just felt the need to write that I meant September the month, not September the Observer. As if that was confusing. You know you’re a Fringe addict when…)

New Downton trailer!

12 Aug

ITV just put out another Downton series/season 3 trailer! And oh my goodness you guys it contains some gems. It’s another one of those “check out all our shows” mammoth trailers, but the Downton goodies come at seconds 9, 35, 43, and 47 (screen caps below if you don’t feel like clicking through) :

I revel in your misfortune, Robert

Mary’s hair is down! INTRIGUE!

Am I…am I hallucinating right now?

Oh hey Shirley

Seriously, that’s Sybil and Branson in that third one, right? I am 99.99999% sure it is. It’s hard to tell because of her hair, but it’s been shorter in spoiler photos and in the official poster, and if that isn’t Allen Leech I will no longer trust my eyes. So it must be them! I suppose this is a start on making up for not getting to see their wedding, but I’m not getting my hopes up too high after I got so excited for all their scenes in the promos for season two and they got barely any screen time when it came down to it. Please don’t destroy them Julian! Please!

Anyway, anything that has Robert crying is good with me. Ugh, Robert.

Secret twins: Daniela Denby-Ashe and Sarah Bolger

11 Aug

I just watched North & South after meaning to for like a year. And it was pretty good! Yay! But that is not the point of this post. The point is that Daniela Denby-Ashe, who played Margaret, bears a freaky resemblance to Sarah Bolger. Or I guess Sarah Bolger does to her, since she’s younger and all. Either way, it was seriously distracting. My image search to prove my point showed that Daniela actually looks very different with her hair blonde and whatnot, but in North & South gear, it is uncanny. Just look:

Daniela Denby-Ashe (as Margaret)

More D D-A

Oh hey Danie–I mean Sarah

I just spent way too long looking for the perfect set of pictures for this, so if you are not convinced, well, whatever, you should be. And you should just watch each of them in something because they carry themselves so similarly. Someone needs to cast these too as relatives or older/younger versions of each other or something stat!
