Break time

14 May

I’m graduated y’all! Here’s the photographic evidence:

I did it!

So anyway, now I’m home for a week, then I’m off on my fantabulous Europe adventure for two weeks, then I’m home for two days and then I’m heading to the beach for a week. In other words, I will be crazy busy for the next month and also crazy sleep deprived, so I’ll be spending most of my down time sleeping, and this blog is going to get neglected. I may post occasionally if I feel moved to do so, but for the most part I’m giving my brain a well deserved rest. I’ll give you some time to recover from your sadness.

Better?  Don’t fret, I will be back eventually. Just not for now. So, check ya later! Enjoy summer! Do fun things! Watch lots of TV! Yay!

Rory Gilmore and Mr. Belding visit Mad Men

7 May

I am emerging from my studying hibernation to let you know that an amazing thing happened on Mad Men last night (well, this morning for me, since I watched it after my exam that was at the godforsaken hour of 7:30 am, but I digress). Rory Gilmore and Mr. Belding both showed up! I of course recognized Alexis Bledel right away, but it took me a second with Mr. Belding, because he looks rather different. But then it clicked and I was like, HEY! MR. BELDING!!!!!! (That is a verbatim quote of my thoughts, by the way). Also, can I just point out the crazy fact that Alexis Bledel is 30 now? And will be turning 31 in September? I know this because I thought hey, why is her husband talking about having a 24 year old girlfriend? She’s basically the same age as his wife. And then I was like, wait, Alexis can’t still be that young. How old is she? And voila, imdb gave me the answer. And it is 30. That just does not compute for me. My mind can’t handle holding my Rory Gilmore image of her and the fact that she is 30 now simultaneously. Also a little too much for my brain to handle: seeing Rory Gilmore sitting smoking after sleeping with Pete (who is so stupid! stop cheating on your wife!). Has it really come to this, Rory? And especially when she came out in the apron at the end, I just kept thinking of the episode of Gilmore Girls where she dresses up all 1950s style for Dean (wrong decade, I know, but still) (also, the episode is That Damn Donna Reed, in case you feel like watching it now. And no, I didn’t have to look that up. Don’t judge). In any case, it was fun seeing her. And Mr. Belding, of course. With this plus Alex Mack/Dawn (Baby-Sitter’s Club 4eva!) as Ken’s wife, I am in nostalgia heaven over here. And now I really want to watch Gilmore Girls. And Saved by the Bell. But I CAN’T. Because I have to go back into study hibernation now. Siiigh.

One non-nostalgia related thing about this episode: While I wish the whole skit with Don and Peggy had never happened because it gave me such second hand embarrassment (I was hiding my face in a pillow the whole time because I couldn’t bear to actually watch it happen), I very much enjoyed it when Peggy told Don to shut up. I also quite enjoyed her saying to Don, “Do you know where Abe is?” when he called to ask where Megan was. So sassy this season!

PS: That was the last episode of Mad Men I will ever watch as a college student. And tonight is the last Gossip Girl I will ever watch as a college student. And Tuesday is the last New Girl I will ever watch as a college student. And so on until Saturday, when I will no longer be a college student. How did this happen??
